Audit

Our Audit Service

Where an audit is required, our approach is designed to add value to our clients' businesses and produce positive benefits from our procedures. Fletcher & Co’s staff will always offer a personal and efficient service.

The audit should actually be used to add value to your business and to ensure that positive benefits are gained. We use it as a constructive and effective tool to provide independent and objective information about where the business is going, as well as keeping a check on where it has been.

The key features of our audit approach are:

  • To develop an in-depth understanding of your business and commercial environment in which it operates so that our audit is relevant and practical
  • Regular communication with your financial management so that you understand our work and we are aware of developments in your business

Charities

Regulation has greatly increased in recent years and accounts have to be produced in standard formats. The Government's Charities Act legislation and the charity Commissioners guidance have to be followed and changes are ongoing. Audit or review needs can vary with the size and type of charity, and trustees have to be seen to be 'doing the right thing'.
Charities often do not have the in-house expertise to look after the accounts like a 'proper' business and trustees generally like the comfort of an outside examination of the finances. Fletcher & Co can provide input throughout the year, including advice on accounting records,  briefing on new developments and generally looking after the interests of the charity.

Key questions for trustees:

  • Do you need an Auditor or an Independent Examiner?
  • Are you aware of current legislation?
  • What are the Tax and VAT pitfalls to avoid?
  • What accounting records should you keep?
  • What do you need in the annual Trustees Report?
